IPBA Lundberg Studios Company History

James Glenn Lundberg was born in Chicago, but grew up in Carpinteria, CA. He graduated from Santa Barbara High School and attended San Jose State University, where he studied art.

After college, he moved to the Santa Cruz area and opened Lundberg Studios, a glass-blowing shop, in Davenport, CA in 1970. It became one of the most well-known producers of glass art in the country. It sold its products to the Smithsonian Institution, Gumps, and the Nature Company.

Mr. Lundberg received an order from the White House for 250 of his World Weight paper weights which imitated the globe, and sold more than $1 million worth of glass crafts in 1989.

Mr. Lundberg was a member of two glass art organizations: GAS and BASAG.

He died at the age of 43 in a bike accident in 1992. The Lundberg Studios is still in operation, carrying on his legacy.
