IPBA Awards Presented at the 2026 Annual Meeting

The IPBA has a tradition of honoring our hard-working volunteers. The following awards were made at the Annual Meeting during our 2026 Annual Convention:

Shining Star: Vic Weinstein

This person came to the IPBA seeking information about several items they owned. After a few conversations, our candidate promptly joined the IPBA, became an expert in their category and happily shared their knowledge with fellow members and non-members.

This person has worked behind the scenes on many of our committees. This person shares their passion for perfume bottles with the world in print, online … and on their forearm!

Please welcome Victor J. Weinstein, English Cameo Glass Expert and an IPBA 2026 Shining Star.

Honors of the Association: Phyllis Dohanian

Tonight we are honoring an outstanding member and volunteer of the IPBA. Since 1994, the IPBA Board of Directors has awarded the Honors of the Association, our highest level of appreciation, to an individual for his or her outstanding commitment to the Association.

As an all volunteer association, we depend upon our members to help us function. From our Board of Directors to Convention Show room chair, to our leaders of chapters, to our presenters, our members have stepped up and made a difference. The IPBA is lucky to have such a member and volunteer as this year’s honoree. Tonight is our 38th Annual Convention. Our Honoree has been involved since that first Convention in Dearborn in 1989.

I believe she inherited the collecting bug from her parents. While she found her first perfume bottle, an American Brilliant Period cut glass cologne, it was her parents who gave her the information about a perfume bottle club that was just starting – the Perfume and Scent Bottle Collectors Club. She immediately joined and attended that Dearborn Convention.

She has been on the Board of Directors, made presentations, and has always said YES when asked to help with a project. She has brought cookies to convention for everyone to enjoy! I am talking about Phyllis Dohanian. She has demonstrated tremendous dedication, passion and love for the IPBA. Phyllis was our second president, elected in 1991. During her 2 terms as president, the club changed its name to: the International Perfume & Scent Bottle Collectors Association in 1992 to recognize our International Members.

At the Dallas 1993 Convention, we received approval from the state of Illinois to incorporate. Incorporation was an important success for Phyllis. She knew we could stand on our own, and now that we were an independent association, we needed to work on our name. On May 13, 1994 at the annual convention at Reston, members voted to approve our new name: International Perfume Bottle Association.

Phyllis does “Just Say Yes” – a program she designed. And she doesn’t wait to be asked. She will ask, “What can I be doing?” She contributes regularly to the raffle, And she has even stepped up and become the Chairman of the UK Chapter. To recognize Phyllis for her Passion, Dedication, Support and Love of the IPBA, the IPBA Board of Directors hereby honors Phyllis Dohanian.
