The meeting for the grand opening of the Italia, Portugal & España Chapter of the IPBA was held at the Museo Correr on October 8, 2023.
The Museo Correr provided an absolutely stunning room for the presentation, which kicked off with welcome speeches from Chiara Squarcina, head of all Public Museums in Venice; Monica Magnani, Perfume Expert and Curator of the Museo di Palazzo Mocenigo; and our own Teri Wirth, President of the IPBA.
As stated by IPBA President Teri Wirth – “The establishment of this new Chapter fills us with great joy as it enhances the pleasure of our members and furthers the educational mission of the International Perfume Bottle Association.”
Afonso Oliveira, IPBA International Vice-President, presented selections from his collection of Portuguese perfumes and powder boxes.
Juanjo Ruiz Criville, from Spain, presented selections from his collection of Spanish perfume ephemera.
Jeffrey Sanfilippo, co-founder of the Perfume Passage Foundation, presented selections from his vast collection.
Luciano Falsini Cheriel and Paolo Migliari, Italian collectors, presented selections from their collection of over 20,000 bottles.
Susan Arthur, former IPBA President, presented items from her collection of American and European art glass.
Lisa Werstell and Verna Kocken, author of “Perfume Bottles for Purse and Dresser”, presented selections from their collections of Czechoslovakian bottles.
Monica Magnani, founder of the IPE Chapter, presented selections from her extensive collection of non-commercial bottles.
The presentations were well received by a rapt international audience.
