Tall, tapering bottle of clear crystal that features molded poppy blossoms at the top, with the stems running down the corners to leaves at the bottom. This decoration is frosted with warm grey staining. The stopper is molded like a poppy pod and has a long dauber.
Base acid etched “Bottle made in Czecho-Slovakia”. Due to the mark on the bottom, this was likely made as a commercial bottle for an unknown fragrance. Typically Czech bottles would be marked on the base with “Czechoslovakia” in a line, circle, or oval. The tell-tale difference is that this bottle’s mark says “Bottle made in Czechoslovakia”, implying that the contents were made elsewhere, which in turn implies that it was a commercial bottle.
It would have been part of a vanity set with Czech Poppy Jar, also in our Virtual Museum.
