“Novelty Hand Fans” by Cynthia Fendel is her second book. Her previous book on fans is “Celluloid Hand Fans”. She is a founding member of Fan Association of North America.
Her book is divided into 20 chapters. Perfume collectors will find most interest in the chapter called “Compact, Grooming & Perfume Fans”. I particularly liked the use of vintage photos to illustrate different types of fans. I found that there were many different kinds of fans that I hadn’t known about, and I started my collecting career with hand fans. While there is an excellent bibliography, there is no index or price guide.
Cynthia has covered an area in collecting that has scant published information in print and done a very high quality job of writing.
